Solving Statements Involving Age
3 years ago, ram was 5 times as old as his sister. He is presently 3 times as old as his sister is now. Find their present ages.
Three years ago age of sister = x
Three years ago ram age = 5x
Present age of sister = x + 3
Present Age of Ram = 5x + 3
5x + 3 = 3(x+3)
5x + 3 = 3x + 9
5x-3x = 9-3
2x = 6
Sister age three years ago = 3years
Ram age three years ago = 5 X 3 years = 15 years
Sisternpresent age = 3+ 3 =6 years
Ram present age = 15+ 3 = 18 years.
